The EVO 15-S is a 15.6” gaming laptop that weighs just 4.2 lbs and it runs on the latest generation Intel Skylake Core i7-6700HQ 45 watt quad core processor with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 6GB DDR5 graphics for strong gaming performance. VAIO Z flip model Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Vaio Z (flip), the second Vaio model to come to the US from the newly owned company. This is a 13.3” Ultrabook and 2-in-1 Windows convertible laptop with a unique hinge that we first saw on the Sony Vaio Flip models in late 2013.

** Read our full written review here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Vaio-Z-Flip.htm

This is a little powerhouse that runs on 28 watt dual core Intel Skylake 6th generation 2.9 GHz Core i5 and 3.3 GHz Core i7 CPUs with Intel Iris 550 graphics. It has a 2560 x 1440 QHD IPS display that supports touch and the included N-Trig pen. The laptop is available with 8 or 16 gigs of RAM and 256 or 512 gig PCIe NVMe SSD drives. It weighs 2.95 lbs. and has an aluminum casing with a carbon fiber bottom. It’s truly a powerful and classy Ultrabook that converts into a tablet, with a high price to match. Pre-orders start in the US on Feb. 8, 2016. It’s made in Japan.

ZTE ZMAX 2 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the affordable ZTE Zmax 2, which is available in the US as an AT&T GoPhone (prepaid, no contract service) and unlocked overseas. This 4G LTE Android phone sells for $99 full retail on AT&T, and it’s not bad for that extremely low price. It has a 5.5”, 1280 x 720 display, a removable 3,000 mAh battery and a microSD card slot. It runs a fairly clean version of Android 5.1 Lollipop on the quad core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU with 2 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of storage. It has single band WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, a front 2MP camera and a rear 8MP camera with LED flash.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Review

Lisa Gade reviews the new ThinkPad X1 Yoga from Lenovo. This is essentially the lovely ThinkPad X1 Carbon with a 360 degree hinge, lift and lock keyboard and a Wacom AES pen. It’s remarkably thin and light (2.8 lbs/1.27 Kg) for a 14” Windows 10 convertible, yet it’s rigid, durable and has a spill resistant keyboard. This 2-in-1 runs on Intel 6th generation Skylake Core i5 and i7 dual core 15 watt CPUs with Intel HD 520 graphics. It’s typically available with 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 or 512 gig SSD (both SATA and PCIe available as options). You can get it with a 1920 x 1080 full HD anti-glare display or a QHD display (all support touch and the included pen). An AMOLED QHD panel will be available as an option in April 2016. The laptop has Intel dual band WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.1, optional 4G LTE-A and optional WiGig. It has an ample selection of ports, a 52 Whr battery and works with Lenovo’s OneLink docks. Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Yoga 700, Lenovo’s midrange Yoga laptop with a 14” display (there’s also an 11.6” version). This is the replacement for the Yoga 3 14” model, and it looks much like it with a staid matte black finish. We look at the $899 model with the 2.3 GHz Intel Skylake 6th generation dual core Core i5-6200U, Intel HD 520 graphics, 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM and a 256 gig SSD. It’s also available with NVIDIA 940M 2GB graphics for $949. The 2-in-1 Ultrabook has a 360 degree hinge and a full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS touch screen, It weighs 3.5 lbs. and is relatively slim. Microsoft Surface Book Long Term Review: 2.5 Months Later

Lisa Gade revisits the Microsoft Surface Book, Microsoft’s first laptop that’s also a tablet with pen. When we first reviewed the Surface Book at the end of October 2015, it had early release issues since it was the first Intel Skylake laptop to ship with Windows 10. We look at how the Core i7 with NVIDIA graphics and the Core i5 without dedicated graphics have progressed as Microsoft has released driver and firmware updates. Lisa covers battery life, display driver stability, MS Edge web browser, Connected Standby/sleep and more. She also compares it to a four competitors currently on the market. If you’d like to see the Surface Book smack down a laptop that we haven't yet done, drop a line in the comments section. The Surface Book starts at $1,499 for the Core i5 model and the dedicated graphics option and Core i7 bring the price closer to $2,000. The NVIDIA dedicated graphics are in the base of the machine and they offer double the performance of Intel HD 520 graphics, but as an NVIDIA 940M equivalent, fall short of higher end gaming GPUs like the GTX 960M. If gaming is one of your goals, go for the dedicated graphics, otherwise save some cash and go with integrated-only graphics. Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin, Samsung’s first Ultrabook with a 360 degree hinge. The 13.3” Spin looks much like the ATIV Book 9 and Series 9 laptops that came before it, and that’s a good thing because these are gorgeous unibody die cut metal laptops. This is a high end Windows 10 Ultrabook with the 6th generation Skylake 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7-6500U, 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig M.2 SSD. It’s one of the slimmest notebooks on the market and it’s quite light for a 2-in-1 convertible at 2.87 lbs. The ATIV has a 3200 x 1800 PLS touch screen with wide color gamut, an ample selection of ports and very good 2 watt stereo speakers. It sells for $1,299- $1,399 and it competes with the Lenovo Yoga 900, HP Spectre x360 and conventional laptops like the Dell XPS 13.
