Lenovo Yoga 900S Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Yoga 900S, a 12.5” Windows 10 convertible with Lenovo's 360 degree watchband hinge and Intel 6th generation Skylake Core m5 and m7 CPUs. The Yoga 900S is the even slimmer and smaller version of the 13.3” Yoga 900, and it weighs just 1 kg (2.2 lbs) and is 0.5” (12.8mm) thick, making it currently the thinnest convertible. It's available in champagne gold (our unit) and silver with black accents.

The Yoga 900S is available with an IPS touch screen + Wacom AES active digitizer for the ThinkPad Pen Pro (pen not included) in your choice of full HD 1920 x 1080 and QHD 2560 x 1440 resolutions. You can get it with 4 or 8 gigs of RAM, and 128 and 256 gig PCIe SSDs. It has Broadcom dual band WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth, a backlit keyboard and a large 53 Whr battery. It costs from $1,100 to $1,300 depending on configuration.

HP Spectre Review

Lisa Gade reviews the 2016 HP Spectre 13.3” Ultrabook. At 10.4mm (0.41”), it's currently the thinnest Intel Core Ultrabook on the market.

** Read our written review here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/HP-Spectre.htm

Though it has a designer look inspired by high end cabinetmaking and jewelry, the 2.45 lb. (1.1 kg) Spectre doesn't compromise on performance. It's available with Intel Skylake 6th gen Core i5 and i7 CPUs and it has 8 gigs of RAM and fast PCIe SSDs. The laptop has a really lovely 13.3” full HD display, backlit keyboard and WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth. The price starts at $1,169.

Samsung Notebook 9 Pro Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro (formerly called ATIV Book 9 Pro), Samsung's top of the line 15.6” laptop with a 6th generation Skylake Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad core 45 watt CPU, NVIDIA GTX 950M 2GB DDR5 dedicated graphics, 4K touch screen, 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig M.2 SSD. The laptop is the more powerful and premium, though still thin and light, counterpart to the 15” Samsung Notebook 9 (non-Pro). It has unibody aluminum construction, and it weighs 4.45 lbs. (2 kg) and is 0.7” thick. The Notebook 9 Pro competes with the 15” Retina MacBook Pro, Dell XPS 15 and Asus ZenBook Pro UX501. It's priced significantly cheaper than a similarly configured 15” MacBook Pro and XPS 15 at $1,399 to $1,499 US.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming Laptop 7559 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 model 7559, aka the Gaming Edition. This is a relatively affordable gaming laptop that offers a lot of bang for the buck. We have the $750 base model with a 15.6” IPS full HD 1920 x 1080 display, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB DDR5 dedicated graphics, Intel Skylake 6th generation quad Core i5-6300HQ, 8 gigs of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. You can get it with a 256 gig M.2 SSD for $50 more, and a Core i7 (also quad core) adds $100 to the price.

The laptop weighs 6 lbs. and is 1 inch thick. It has a durable build, and is easily opened for upgrades and service. It has a 74 Whr battery and Intel dual band WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth. A 4K display is available as a high end option, and a backlit keyboard and stereo speakers with a subwoofer are standard. If you're looking for a gaming or workhorse laptop on a budget, this is a top pick. You won't get a super light metal design, cutting edge ports or a high gamut display, but the core specs are all solid and the must-have ports like HDMI, Ethernet and USB 3.0 are on board.

Nixplay Edge WiFi Cloud Frame Photo Frame Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Nixplay Edge WiFi Cloud Frame. Unlike many photo frames on the market, it has a superb IPS display and easy to use controls. Since it's a Cloud Frame, you can change its settings and send playlists to it using your web browser and online photo sharing accounts like Flickr, Instagram, Google Photos and FaceBook. There's a remote and an easy to user interface on the frame itself as well. The Edge is available in an 8” 720p size for $129 and our 13” 1920 x 1080 model for $249. It has a vivid and bright matte IPS display that will make even picky photographers happy. It has a speaker and headphone jack and it can play H.264 videos, should you wish to use it as a portable video player.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet Review

Lisa Gade reviews Lenovo's new business-minded 2-in-1, the ThinkPad X1 Tablet. The X1 Tablet is more simply and elegantly designed than the ThinkPad Helix, and it has modern Intel Skylake 6th generation Core m5 and m7 CPUs inside. The 12” tablet has a very good IPS 2160 x 1440 display with high brightness and good color gamut. It supports both Wacom AES pen and touch, and Lenovo includes the pen in the box. The ThinkPad style keyboard is also included.

The ThinkPad X1 Tablet isn't cheap. Our Core m5 with 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD lists for $1,349. The Windows 10 2-in-1 convertible is available with SATA-3 SSDs and most configurations will have 8 gigs of DDR3L RAM. The tablet competes with MS Surface Pro 4, and is the higher end alternative to the Lenovo Miix 700. It will work with a variety of modules that snap onto the bottom edge, including the Productivity Module that adds a OneLink+ dock, HDMI and USB 3.0 as well as a secondary battery; a projector module and 3D Intel RealSense camera module. The X1 Tablet has a USB-C 3.1 port that handles charging, a USB 3.0 port, microSD card slot, mini DisplayPort and a 3.5mm audio jack. It has optional 4G LTE with a SIM card slot on the back.
