Lisa Gade reviews the very powerful Origin EON17-X gaming laptop with a desktop CPU and NVIDIA 10 Series GTX 1080 Pascal graphics inside- it's ready for 4K gaming. The laptop is also available with GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 cards. This a a 17.3” desktop replacement size notebook that weighs 8.6 lbs. and is 1.6” thick. It can play today's most demanding games at 4K resolution with good frame rates, and it's ready for VR. Our unit has a wide gamut 4K matte IPS non-touch display with G-Sync, and it's also available with a 1080p G-Sync IPS display. The laptop runs Windows 10 on the 4.0 GHz Intel Core i7-6700K, an overclockable desktop CPU.

Other goodies include an RGB backlit keyboard, Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C 3.1 gen. 2 ports, Killer DoubleShot WiFi + Ethernet, 2 M.2 SSD slots (available with PCIe NVMe SSDs), two 2.5” drive bays and up to 64 gigs of DDR4 RAM. You can build it to order with high end/high clock speed RAM, Samsung 950 Pro SSDs in RAID and a variety of lid treatments direct from Origin- a boutique gaming laptop and desktop company founded by the original Alienware team (pre-Dell). The EON17-X starts around $2,100 and our high end configuration sells for $3,500.
