Lenovo Y700 Review
Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Y700 gaming and multimedia laptop for those on a budget. We look at the 15 and 17 models that share the same design, full HD screen spec, Intel Skylake quad core 45 watt Core i7-6700HQ CPU, NVIDIA GTX 960M graphics switchable with Intel HD 530 graphics, 16 gigs of RAM, a 128 gig M.2 SSD and a 1 TB HDD. The Y700 models both have a matte black aluminum lid, red accents and a red backlit keyboard. The 15.6” model with touch screen as reviewed sells for $1,100 while the 17.3” with a non-touch IPS display sells for $1,150. There’s a 4K display option for the 15”, but not for the 17”. The laptops are relatively slim though not particularly light. They’re considerably more affordable than competing Alienware models and a bit less than a similarly configured Dell XPS 15 Infinity. They compete directly with the MSI Apache Pro line and the Dell Inspiron. The laptops have 3 USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, an SD card slot, 3.5mm combo audio and dual band Intel WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth.

Nexus 6P Review
Lisa Gade reviews the Google Nexus 6P Android smartphone, made by Huawei. This is Google’s higher end and larger of two models released in 2015 (the smaller and less expensive model is the Nexus 5X reviewed here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/Nexus-5X.htm ). The Nexus 6P has an attractive unibody anodized aluminum casing and a slim design. It’s a big phone with a 5.7” QHD 2560 x 1440 AMOLED display. It has the top of the line 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 ocata-core CPU with Adreno 430 graphics, 3 gigs of DDR4 RAM and your choice of 32, 64 or 128 gigs storage.
The phone is unlocked for use on most carriers and in the US it supports AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon with LTE 4G, among others. It has a 12.3MP rear camera with large pixel sites for better low light photos and a front 8MP camera. It has the usual dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. Other goodies include front facing stereo speakers, pure Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the promise of quick OS updates and an ample 3450 mAh battery with quick charging. The price starts at $499.

Dell XPS 15 Infinity with 1080p Display Review
Lisa Gade reviews the full HD 1920 x 1080 display option on the Dell XPS 15 Infinity 9550. We’ve already done an in-depth video review of the XPS 15 Infinity here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pWSSJ2eyMw , and we have a full written review here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Dell-XPS-15-Late-2015-Infinity.htm . In this video we’re focusing on the full HD matte non-touch display option of the XPS 15 using a second review unit (our main review covers the UHD 4K touch model). The XPS 15 starts at $999, but the real exciting models start around $1,399 with the quad core i7, full HD display, SSD drive, larger battery and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics. Our $1,699 config is the high end for the 1080p model and we test its brightness, color gamut, sharpness and how it performs visually in shooter games like Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. We also test battery life, which is as you’d expect better than on the 4K touch model.

MSI GE62 and GE72 Apache Pro Gameplay Demo
Lisa Gade demos games on the MSI Apache Pro GE62 and GE72. Games showcased in this video include Fallout 4, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Battlefield 4. Check out our video review of the MSI Apache Pro GE62 and GE72 at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoppsqdbiE8
MSI GE62 and GE72 Apache Pro Review
Lisa Gade reviews both the 15.6 and 17.3” MSI Apache Pro gaming/desktop replacement laptops. The GE62 is the 5.3 lb., 15.6” model and the GE72 is the 6.5 lb., 17.3” model. Both are 6QD models- Intel 6th generation Skylake with NVIDA GTX 960M 2GB DDR5 VRAM. The laptops are fairly slim and light compared to MSI’s Dominator GT72 line, but heavier and thicker than the MSI Ghost and Stealth line. The Apache Pro models are also more affordable at around $1,100 for the GE72 and $1,300 for the GE72. They both run on the same Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad core, 45 watt CPUs with Intel HD 530 graphics switchable via NVIDIA Optimus with the GTX 960M. The Apache Pro is also available with GTX 970M graphics.
Both models have the same DVD drive and selection of ports including USB 3.0, UB-C, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, headphone and mic (with ESS Sabre audio DAC). They have multi-zone backlit SteelSeries keyboards with number pad, stereo speakers with subwoofer, aluminum lids and keyboard decks, 2 DDR4 RAM slots, an M.2 SSD boot drive and a 1 TB HDD. Dual band Intel AC 3165 WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and Killer gigabit Ethernet are standard. For the GE62, we look at a model supplied by XoticPC.com with upgraded IC Diamond thermal paste, a custom vinyl lid decal and upgrade to 32 gigs of RAM.

Dell XPS 13 9350 (Late 2015) Review
Lisa Gade reviews the late 2015 Dell XPS 13 model 9350 with Intel 6th generation Skylake CPUs. The late 2015 model looks identical to the early 2015 that we reviewed, and that’s fine with us because the XPS 13 is one of the most portable, well made and attractive 13.3” Ultrabooks on the market. Dell changed just a few things: the CPU generational update, a slightly higher capacity battery and the addition of the USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port that replaces the mini DisplayPort. The laptop is available with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 dual core 15 watt U series CPUs with Intel HD 520 graphics. You can get it with 4, 8 or 16 gigs of DDR3 RAM, and 128, 256 or 512 gig PCIe SSDs. It has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and a backlit keyboard.
The Infinity display with almost no bezel is eye-catching and as with the prior model, it’s available with a 1920 x 1080 matte, non-touch display or a QHD+ 3200 x 1800 gloss IGZO touch screen. This is a traditional laptop and not a convertible, and it’s the smallest 13” notebook on the market with a footprint similar to some 11.6 to 12” laptops. The base non-touch model with a Core i3, 4 gigs of RAM and a 128 gig SSD is $799. Our QHD+ touch model with the 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-6200U, 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD is $1,399.

OnePlus X Review
Lisa Gade reviews the OnePlus X, the $250 Android smartphone that looks like a high end phone. The OnePlus X is clad front and back with glass (there’s a more expensive limited release ceramic version too) and it has straight metal sides, for a very iPhone 5 look. The X is available via the OnePlus invite system in the US and the EU, but we look at the Hong Kong/China import model available from exporters like GearBest who provided our review unit: http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_260030.html . It’s more readily available, but the drawback is you won’t get US LTE 4G bands. For the version OnePlus sells direct via their website, you will get 4G LTE, though bands aren’t comprehensive.
This is an unlocked GSM phone with 2 SIM card slots and a microSD card slot, all in one pop-out carrier. In terms of specs, it’s basically the older OnePlus One in a smaller casing with a few tweaks. It runs OxygenOS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the quad core Snapdragon 801 with Adreno 330 graphics. It has 3 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of storage. The phone has a pleasing full HD 1920 x 1080 AMOLED display, single band WiFi, Bluetooth and a GPS. It has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 lens and a front 8MP camera.
The phone has a 2525 mAh battery that’s sealed inside and in our tests easily lasted a day on a charge (4 hours actual screen on time).

LG V10 Review
Lisa Gade reviews the LG V10, LG’s flagship phablet released in late 2015. The V10 is a large phone with a durable and textured back. It has a 5.7” IPS QHD 2560 x 1440 display and a secondary 1024 x 160 display up top for notifications, status, app launching and calling favorite folks. The phone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with LG’s UI on the 1.8 GHz 6-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 CPU with Adreno 418 graphics, 4 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of internal storage. US carriers sell it for approx. $699.
As we’ve come to expect from LG, the V10 has a microSD card slot and a removable 3,000 mAh battery. It has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE. The rear 16MP camera with f/1.8 lens, OIS, laser auto-focus, 4K video recording and a two-tone flash is excellent. The smartphone has two 5MP front cameras: one for standard view and the other for wide angle photos and video.
