Lenovo Y700 Review
Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo Y700 gaming and multimedia laptop for those on a budget. We look at the 15 and 17 models that share the same design, full HD screen spec, Intel Skylake quad core 45 watt Core i7-6700HQ CPU, NVIDIA GTX 960M graphics switchable with Intel HD 530 graphics, 16 gigs of RAM, a 128 gig M.2 SSD and a 1 TB HDD. The Y700 models both have a matte black aluminum lid, red accents and a red backlit keyboard. The 15.6” model with touch screen as reviewed sells for $1,100 while the 17.3” with a non-touch IPS display sells for $1,150. There’s a 4K display option for the 15”, but not for the 17”. The laptops are relatively slim though not particularly light. They’re considerably more affordable than competing Alienware models and a bit less than a similarly configured Dell XPS 15 Infinity. They compete directly with the MSI Apache Pro line and the Dell Inspiron. The laptops have 3 USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, an SD card slot, 3.5mm combo audio and dual band Intel WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth.
